Purifying Facade transforms building facades into climate-active systems that capture CO₂, improve air quality, produce oxygen, and generate biomass.

The project was initiated by the Purifying Facade company to create a facade solution that delivers both environmental and economic value. By integrating microalgae photobioreactor technology into building envelopes, the system turns unused vertical surfaces into productive infrastructure.

Beyond improving sustainability performance, Purifying Facade produces biomass that can be processed and monetized through selected downstream applications, creating an additional revenue opportunity for building owners, companies, and public-sector partners.

We are developing the system with research, design, and technology partners to prepare for feasibility validation, digital modelling, and future pilot applications in Switzerland and beyond.
